Athletes will have to pay back 150$ out of 300€ – flat rate “pocket money’- the Committee had handed out in advance depending on the days they would stay in London.

To explain this, the 300€ is "pocket money" that each athlete got for the full duration of the Olympics, or 20€ a day to spend on whatever they might want that isn't covered by the HOC as "expenses". Not included in those expenses are basic things like shampoo, tooth paste etc. You know, those little luxuries nobody really needs...

We know things are bad here, very bad. But this is simply ridiculous in the extreme. the maximum the HOC stands to gain out of this is just over 15,000€. That is if all had failed and returned to Greece a week ago.
You're right that is ridiculous! Its mind numbingly mean. England is cheaper to live in than Ireland but E20.00 per day is cutting it very fine.

Not only that, but it also means that Voula Papachristou actually got paid 150€ for her racist tweet...

The pettiest of minds seem to flourish in times like these. A few days ago here we had a newspaper highlighting €47 round of drinks on a minister's expenses.

The other reason is for samples that are found to be positive. It allows them to study rates of deterioration, long term effects, mutations, you name it. make no mistake, some of these guys are in fact guinea pigs for new stuff and samples can be used to develop new tests etc. Big business of course!
Well not only that but all that is needed to be done is to change a chemical group on a doping agent and they will not detect it as a lot of the chemcials will be similar but undetectable as they only test for specific doping agents and general families as far as I am aware. There is also something they were worried about which is genetic doping if you may which would involve gene therapy of sorts but this is not really in practice yet but could in a few years. Imagine a gene which means you can sustain yourself on more oxygen,

Well, she didn't really quit as she wasn't to start in any further competitions anyway. She also had to leave the Police force over the same issue.

Oh, and the NPD is by no means a "movement" confined to the northern city of Rostock but a registered German party and. albeit being frequently investigated by the Verfassungsschutz, not illegal.

It's long struck me as strange that someone would devote a sizeable chunk of their life to something that animals can do much better.
