When people sit down and think, the NAMA argument is going to come back and haunt Reilly.

The NAMA are supposed to try and achieve about 35% of the value of the land as that is what they paid the Banks.

They were not meant to get it from the taxpayer, after a Govt Minister hiked a property developer friends site up the list.

The defence of the indefensible really grates on the ear.

    Eh?
Wriggling as Audrey Carville pins him down on how the list worked. Throwing out non sequiters and straw men at a great rate.

Terrible sign when an FG TD uses the existence of a FF list to defend the position of Reilly.

She is quite good. Had not come across her before, but have been impressed.

By the way, this Dara Murphy fella is saying that the Balbriggan site is a private site, while admitting that it is actually owned by a State body.

If this site was not in the top 35, the NAMA would have no interest, as it would hardly ever get planning permission for the shopping centre and Apartments for which it was intended.

This site is only worth money because a primary health centre will be built on it. The only reason a primary health centre will be built on it is because GP turned property developer, turned Minister for Health decided to jack it up a list.

    Why are these PPP's anyway?

Why is the State continuing to enrich property developers?

Borrow the money needed from the EIB, and instead odf paying rent to Developers, pay interest to the EIB. Then we own the place after the loan is paid off

    from the Balbriggan developer

Rhonellen Developments main objective is to provide solutions to infrastructural deficits, utilising all incentives provided by Government through Public Private Partnerships and tax based schemes as passed in each year's Finance Acts.

Our politicians learned a long time ago, that access to inside information regarding planning permissions were a goldmine.

They also learned that access to information regarding tax breaks on property and developments were also a goldmine.

GPs all over the country own Nursing Homes, as these homes involve tax breaks.

The benefit of having a property developer with a site and a GP with a tax break is a marriage made in heaven.

Reilly's mate either has inside knowledge or he spends a lot of cash phonig those psychic lads on TV3

The defendant is a company owned by Mr. Seamus Murphy. Mr. Murphy is a successful businessman with extensive interests in lands in north County Dublin, and Counties Meath and Louth. His particular expertise appears to be in taking options over lands zoned for agricultural use and when rezoned, selling them on at a profit for development.

Primary care centres were never about health, they were about property development and a way to enrich Fianna Fáil and Fianna Gael insiders. All you had to have, was a promise that you would get the HSE lease and the bank would throw truck-loads of money at you. The HSE are culpable, as it must have been obvious what was going on but they put their heads down and kept their fat cheques plopping in to the bank every month. The primary care clinic policy was grinding to a halt anyway once the upwards only leases were banned in 2010 as they could no longer rely on extorting taxpayers money upwards ad infinitem. But it looks to me that some of the lads had residual pre-boom promises that had to be met and this is what we are seeing played out with Minister Reilly.Once Reillly is gone the HSE should be made publish all the lease agreements and all the parties to them. The amount of money wasted will be jaw dropping but as ever do not expect any resignations or any sacked public servants who just do as they are told.

I am originally from North Co Dublin. The corruption over agricultural land and rezoning goes back decades.

The best way to get ahead was join a political party.

You would,nt believe the strokes that were pulled in that constituency. Just think of who has come out of that area. Ray Burke, Charlie Haughty and family, the Bailey
Bros and a coterie of friends, including those that have appeared on lists such as the Ansbacher scandal and most recently the maple 10.

Very true. An easy way for Minister Reilly to clear his name would be for him to publish details of the lease agreement and show that he got excellent value for the tax payer given that Ballbriggan has lots of empty sites/properties. The journalists should move on from the list.criteria/ aspect which was clearly manipulated to the lease detail.

    take your pick:

    "commercial contract/sensitivity"

    "matter for the HSE"

    "ecumenical matter"

Colm Keaveney, Mick Clifford, Alison O'Connor, Brian Stanley.
Colm has fairly changed his tune since the last time he was on. He was 'angry at the system' back then

Colm Keaveney avoids the question from Alison O'Conor of whether he knew Gilmore was meeting Reilly this morning.
