Default Anglo seeks jailing of Quinn for contempt

This is certainly upping the ante on the Quinn family- papers were served on Quinn's beak yesterday after the High Court granted the IBRC permission to bring a contempt action against Quinn, his son Sean jr, and nephew Peter. It seems this is connected to alleged transfers of property into 'mysterious' holding companies based in Belize, and an alleged breach of terms of a court order that forbade the Quinn family from 'interfering' with their international property portfolio. If this action succeeds, the three men will be jailed for contempt until they purge it, which could include undoing previous transactions and asset transfers. Please bear in mind when commenting that this is an ongoing action.

I hope so culmore, but the cynic in me believes this is being pursued to deflect attention from something else.

Indeed anti and Sean Quinn seems to be the only one being pursued to any great degree whilst this Government continues to protect the "Others"

No fan of Sean Quinn but he certainly seems to have been singled out.

RTE radio news reporting that the Quinns are to appeal the High Court finding of contempt against them.

Who will pay for that appeal? Whatever sympathy these people ever had, and it was in short supply in any case, should have turned into total contempt at this stage.

A period in the slammer might help them think a little more clearly and spare the public from more expense funding the legal machinations of this bloody family!

Quinn's son and Nephew sentenced to 3 months for contempt. Junior was banged up immediately but the other poor little pet is sick and nowhere to be found.

The Quinns do seem to be being singled out for special attention, where are the other big name court cases I wonder.

Given the amount of fuckery that went before and after Anglo collapsed I don't really think they have been singled out. We're just not used to seeing anyone, anyone in court.
And this is IBRC rather then the State doing the chasing too of course.

It looks odd because in Ireland, NOBODY ever goes to jail for any kind of white collar crime.

And remember, this is only contempt of court. There has been no criminal conviction here. Yet.

When someone is banged up for white collar crime we become hysterical at the injustice of it.

Agreed! We should bang up some of the guys and gals in the Financial regulators office for dereliction of duty, they watched the ship heading for the ice berg and did nada.
