Default What will 2012 bring for Ireland?

So 2012 is here and Christmas has now ended, with everything back to normal we can get back to some good old doom and gloom!

What do you think 2012 will bring to Ireland?

Will we carry on paying bankers debts,
Will we have a mini budget?
    Will the EU collapse?
    Will the Euro dies?
Will the Irish finally stand up for themselves and protest through methods such as the Property tax?

Or will we limp on for 12 months and all get wiped out on 21st December 2012?

    What are your 2012 predictions?

    No worries.

    This was the thread.

    http://www.politicalworld.org/showthread.php?t=10679

It was predictions for 2012 - global, not just for Ireland.

I don't see a problem with having a thread of predictions specifically for Ireland.

    Let's go for it.

I think mine were adaptable - thanks for finding them Cass!

Rising oil and commodity prices making economic growth in the current system impossible

Rising food prices due to weather related shortages and cost of distribution

Demise of the Euro - although it will be called a restructure

Increase in organic agriculture and supply to Britain - they haven't enough land to feed themselves

Croke park agreement burned and hopefully the wasters sacked

Civil unrest from many, many issues leading to....

General election - actual or at least called for early 2013

Resurgence of social responsibility such as caring for our elderly at home

Eventual realisation of the limits to one planet housing 7 billion people leading to .......

    lower expectations and demands

    Black market booming

    Suicide and crime rates rising

I would like to think we would burn the bondholders and those who misguided government but there are so many issues worthy of similar action I don't see it happening or any point. That sort of burning would darken the skies for months!

If only we could just skip the bit in the middle - the unrest and burning phase - cut to the chase by declaring the limits to growth so enabling a cooperative rehabilitation to a more sustainable country

We owe it to our children

I know someone who claims FF Td's were launching 30k a WEEK into Anglo during the boom. I realize this isn't dig out old skeletons thread but thats slightly more than anyone can account for from legal earnings. Id like to see how many politicians have their fingers in the bondholder pie and how many bondholders have dirt on them if the politicians arent bondholders themselves.

my point was get ready for serious deja vu and more paddy happy compliance. I swear if Irish people were bothered they'd've been off their holes long ago. The most likely people to protest are leaving or have left, as has always been the case since the state began.

Not going to happen I'm afraid. I'd be hopeful that perhaps the circle of sanity would grow a bit more in 2012, but as of now I don't think there'll be any huge change in attitudes, although given how volatile the situation is it can't be ruled out.
