If Lowry made such a call after he was exposed how would the ULA have reacted?
Of course we shouldn't have TDs pissing all over the law or Dail rules but if discredited TDs call for their peers to be investigated the public can be rightly sceptical about their motives.
Higgins is wearing out his shovel as he tries to dig himself out of the hole. He's claiming that Dublin TDs are being prevented from campaigning on national issues.

He might take comfort from having Brian Hayes as an ally. Despite FG getting taxpayers money to fund their party activities, Hayes has admitted abusing his expenses to fund national campaigning.

Daly is now claiming that expenses for Dublin TDs are too high.

They really do live in a parallel universe once they get into Leinster House.
The system is there and most of our elected representatives work it like their life depended on it with some inevitably straying in to areas of illegality or at the very least morally/ethically ambiguous , the amusing thing is why people ever expected that just because some politicians are Independent or from the Left or wear a pink t-shirt they would be any different.
Our Oireachtas is a very exclusive club where only the "right sort" are welcomed and those that don't fit in are sent packing PDQ, the sad part is that because the bar is currently set so low in terms of personal integrity and standards for politicians it wouldn't need to be raised by very much to make a significant difference but who is willing to take up the challenge when our best and brightest are getting out of the country as fast as they can.
On a side note it's interesting to see the level of expenses that Joe Higgins claimed during his adventures outside of Dublin for the Household Charge Campaign, compare that with the obscene charges racked up by the last government...Truly men against boys![]()
Well there you are now, that explains that little runt Hayes' sympathetic pronouncement about the ULA and their expenses issues the other day. He was merely covering his own ass.
Hayes btw appeared to tap a hell of a lot more in expenses that breached the rules, 1000 euro a month according to the article

Bosco claims that Higgins has been lashing out Oireachtas postage paid envelopes to the anti HC group.

Oops.
it gets even more ridiculous -
Yesterday my wife received a letter from Dublin City Council saying 'we think you own a property and the household charge is due'
In the same post she received a 'statement of account' from the Household Charge office about the payments made, including the address Dublin City Council says she hasn't paid for.....
Two questions
1. Who is checking what?
2. My wife is not registered as the owner or has ever paid any bills for the premises Dublin City Council questioned her about. How did they get her address??
No, she doesn't have one, prefers not to....
I've wracked my (limited) brain.... It is funny, she is named on another property, but no demand for that.
Indicates to me that they are flailing about, but I am worried about the quality of the data available and its origins. Unfortunately the Data Protection Commissioner has given a carte blanche to them...., so I presume that I cannot complain.
