This took two rolls of Juan Sheet's best to mop up my tears of laughter.

""As a British citizen, I have always objected to being forced into bankruptcy in a foreign jurisdiction purely on the basis that I have a judgment (sic) liability in that state," said the former republican hunger striker"

Is he a British citizen or a UK (Britain and Northern Ireland) citizen?

Talk of a 'Super' property tax for 'large, expensive homes'.

    http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/s...es-561232.html

I wonder if 'large, expensive homes' is just the journalist's interpretation or if we're seeing the start of a spin campaign to support basing property tax on floor area.

Basing the tax on house value would see higher rates in urban areas where most publicly funded services are provided whereas assessing the rate on the basis of floor area would hammer rural areas where there are very few public services.

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is about to embark on a campaign that's guaranteed to fail - It wants a crackdown on drunk and disorderly behaviour.

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland...ng-202486.html

Given that the publicans scream blue murder about enforcing the drink-drive laws which save lives, imagine the hysteria if we do something about trivial stuff like their punters fighting, pissing and puking their way home.

There's a nasty attack on Simon Coveney in today's Indo.

    http://www.independent.ie/national-n...e-3187104.html

The way it's spun makes it look as if Coveney supported the very lenient sentence for sex predator Anthony Lyons whereas all he really did was make proper comment about the separate of powers of the Executive and the Judiciary.

    Nasty, nasty stuff.

87.5% of cyclists admit to breaking the RoTR. Or to put it another way - 12.49% lied in a survey.

BIFFO not ruling out a return to politics, or law.

Jaysus Brian, the State pay you 150K a year. Just be happy with drinking that away on a barstool. You have done enough damage

At least Lenihan brought in the sensible law that they can't get their pension and a TD salary. Should save us from BIFFO in the Dail. Maybe he wants to be an Advisor though

As an advisor he would be worth his weight in gold. Just by doing the opposite of what he counselled we could become a net creditor country in about 3 years.

Ming seems to be going completely off the rails if the Indo is to be believed. He's dramatically escalating his crazed attacks on the Ceann Comhairle and demanding that the media publish his diatribes in full and unedited.

If he gets much worse it could hit ticket sales at Roscommon cinemas.
