Great piece in today's Guardian -G2 section - about the anti-bailout protests in Ballyhea and Charleville.It runs to nearly 3 pages with pics and interviews with locals.there is no cutesy 'colour' injected into the story either;it's just good straight reportage.

An object lesson in journalism for our own hopeless self serving and self loathing hacks,confined as they are within the onanistic echo chamber of the Pale.

Agreed we will have to overthrow the mandarins. I note no thread on La Senza sit in , not as sexy as the vita cortex workers? Who would have thought it? Reporting is poor on the issue. The workers are primarily victims of the Governments policy to maintain high rents. Journalists too lazy to look at the real issue.

Yes high rents huge problem. I did though see reported somewhere yesterday that La Senza workers had entered into talks with the appointed Examiner.

Vita Cortex has a PS bashing angle via NAMA while La Senza is the real economy.

Rents are high because landlords wont reduce them. It's the market not the government that's keeping them high.

Sadly, the workers are likely to be disappointed. Examiners have to work in a rigid legal cage and pretty much everyone comes ahead of staff when it comes to picking over the carcass of a dead business.

Social Partnership did much to benefit business and the wealthy but it failed miserably to address truly important issues for workers such as pensions and rights when companies go broke.
