A rare public admission that the leader of "leprous" Israel has diddly squat interest in peace with the Palestinians.

Benjamin Netanyahu has a coalition today that is leading him to places that make the State of Israel look leprous around the world. The fact that he is a good English speaker – and he is a good English speaker – does not salvage the situation. Here is the situation we’re in: Binyamin Netanyahu has decided that he does not care to do anything so that there will ever be a chance of peace for the State of Israel.

Money talks and the American Jewish lobby has promoted Zionism uncritically until quite recently when, as Norman Finkelstein has observed, American Jews who tend to be liberal Democrats have been quiet about Israel since the Gaza massacre of December 2008/January 2009. American Jews do not and likely never will criticize Israeli government policy but their liberal tradition is in conflict with the conduct of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories and now the talk of more shock and awe in Iran.

Would these so-called "Americans" be better looking after their fellow American citizens who are living below the poverty line? What is in it for them to fund politicians in a country thousands of mile away ?

Ashkenazim protecting ashkenazim. The boycott Israel campaign is throwing up some interesting connections between western funders of Israel and offshore funds. There is a distinct smack of a wealthy cohort of offshore ashkenazim underwriting the illegal Israeli settlements in Palestine including some interesting contracts being given out to ostensibly British-jewish run companies and some rather shadowy wealthy families operating behind offshore trusts backing the ashkenazim in Israel.

These are the fundamentalist Israelis- the ashkenazim are a certain group who, from my reading of history, are certain that jews are the chosen of god and who have been behind jewish exceptionalism for perhaps thousands of years now.

They are also the ones who insist on the mad notion that jews are chosen, everyone else is 'untermensch' and they are a bit like extremist catholics in that they recognise no temporal human authority whatsoever.

Washington and London to the ashkenazim are pawns to be bought and sold in the game of relentlessly chasing fundamentalist advantage for their ideological group.

This dangerous nonsense as ever is funded quietly by jewish billionaires- mostly beyond national borders. I should point out that many jewish people around the world are aware of this mad crew but are afraid to face them down because they are threatened with ostracism and worse if they do.

This thread being about Israel's 'future' I would say that it is all part of a repeated historical cycle and within the description above is contained much of the reason why jewish people in toto have have been ostracised and worse from a number of societies and cultures over the milennia.

The narrative is always to claim 'anti-semitism' as a cause for jewish expulsion from Babylon, from what is now known as modern day Turkey, from an attempt to settle across a chokepoint of the Silk Road in order to extract tribute and control trade, to the expulsion and pogroms of the Ukraine.

Despite the official sympathetic history mostly enforced by the ashkenazim from ancient times the ashkenazim have more than contributed to the targeting of all jewish people for repression, expulsion and pogrom down the centuries.

So if the historical cycle continues as it has done around that people down the millennia the ashkenazim will continue to drive extremist zionism until one of two things happen- they either achieve total power over other races and thereby validate their nutty ideology or they will again contribute mightily to the revulsion and destruction of that people. And once again become a scattered diaspora. And the whole thing begins again- for about the fifth observable time in recorded history by my calculation.

Israel itself? It will continue to push and become more extremist until it meets an immovable object.

That is the best way I have seen it summed up. Further more the Obama government is not going to criticise it either as it needs the votes of the Jewish Americans in the swing states. Any criticism of Israeli policy from the Democrats would see a lot of funding dry up as well as the votes. In the near future Israel is going to make more noise about striking Iran and if Romney gets in, America will turn into a war mongerer and aid Israel strike Iran thereby unsettling the whole region. For the sake of peace in Israel and the whole Middle East lets just hope that Obama stays in power.

The document, he says, warns that the Arab Spring and the Muslim awakening will encourage 1.2 billion Muslims to fight against what they refer to as "the immoral European occupation of Palestine." Lamb argues that the report accuses Israel of intervening in internal American affairs via 60 organizations and some 7,500 administration officials. The report, Lamb says, advises the United States to leave Israel alone as its existence sabotages the American interest in moving closer to the Arab world and the Iranian people.

There is too much intertwined though in American Society. The Jewish people have always played an active role in American society and acted as an agent in terms of the evolution of American society. Such a disconnection is going to prove impossible for America without alienating such huge swathes of people in politics, business and other areas of high society. America would be best however to be seen as a mediator and give some concessions to the Arab world and then balance the influence it has thereby creating some atmosphere condusive to discussion and sorting the Palestinian situation.

Despite the surrounding depressing reality, or perhaps because of it, dozens of parents have discovered the beauty and potential that multicultural education provides.

going back to the op i see no future for israel in the long run because sooner or later it is going to emerge out from under the protective shield of the us which is weakening- and it will have to emerge as the apartheid south africa did.

It is no accident that israel and apartheid south africa very much saw eye to eye and i suspect the best chance for a survival of israel in the future is in reaching accomodation with those peoples around them. If they don't then israel sooner or later and one way or another will be destroyed.

true, the number popping into my head re my fellow citizens living below the poverty line is about 50MM (1/6th of the population, will have to re-check nrs and get back to you)

BUT you would have to be a jew, or half of a jew or at the very least a quarter of a jew to understand "what is in it for them to fund politicians in a country thousands of miles away)
