That has to be one of the most inane idiotic statements I have read on this site (playing the ball here , Im attacking the statement). The background of rape has nothing whatsoever to do with the nationality of the perpetrator, it comes down to a pathological mindset that has developed in a lot of emasculated people whom see themselves wanting to be in control and hold power. As Eliphant said the Greek media is even jumping on the bandwagon with such headlines as he pointed out and this contributes to mass hysteria and certainly comments such as above do nothing but to aid an improvement in situations. In Norway Brevil claimed immigrants were causing issues yet he went and tried to blow up half of Oslo and then shot loads of teenagers dead on an island, being Norwegian had nothitng to do whatsoever with the situation, the fact that the man was a complete nutjob was however...

There is simply no end to it, and it is becoming more and more obvious that the authorities are not too pushed to do anything about this.

Last Friday, about 15 members of GD on motorbikes attacked a make-shift mosque in a basement rear Piraeus.

They threw flares into the basement, which had a good few worshippers in it for evening prayers. Thank God nobody was hurt this time. Nobody was arrested either.

On Saturday night a Romanian and a Moroccon immigrant where attacked with knives, again by a gang on motorbikes. They managed to escape. Later an Iraqi immigrant was also attacked with knives, by probably the same gang on motorbikes. This man was unfortunately not so lucky. He was left to die by the cowards who attacked him, and succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Sunday.

Again, nobody has even been picked up for any of these crimes, leave alone arrested and charged.
Meanwhile, the police are say that they have evidence of immigrants organizing themselves in armed gangs, and they estimate these gangs have some 100,000 AK47s at their disposal. Better armed than the Greek army, they are. Nobody believes they have this amount of weapons, but people do believe that if the police do not start acting and clean the streets of Athens of these motorbike gangs, immigrant groups will take the law into their own hands. And though as they pretend to be, not even a neo nazi golden dawner is a match for an AK47.
And, if it happens, can you blame them?

This a case of what is the morally correct action? Self defence says reasonable force, is an AK47 reasonable force? I think so, no time for scum from the GD and if they were to attack the immigrants again they might think twice if faced with an AK47. Only think though that would be fearful of is if GD use the fact that immigrants have AK47s in some sick twisted way to claim that immigrants are intent on violence?

that IS the tactic. The violence committed by GD is always portrayed (by them) as a reaction to violence committed by immigrants. The very sad rape of the 15 year old on Paros (who is still in a coma) has so far triggered about 15 "revenge" attacts. No such thing as an eye for an eye here. And this despite the girls parents publicly stating that they do not, and neither should the Greek people, hold the immigrant community at large responsible for the ordeal of the daughter. Selective hearing is very, very handy.

I am glad to say that we had the following experience here. On another blog, an GD supporter started defending their actions, and was pulled up by a good few people. Eventually, this person was caught out lying about a lot of stuff, and got barred from the blog. But, another supporter, thinking of becoming a member, took this up privately, and I ended up having a discussion with her. I emailed her back with the same request published on the said blog:

Go back to your friends, and ask them to outright condemn this [rape of the Albanian girl by a GD mamber], in public, with the same indignation, vigour and furore they displayed over the last 2 weeks or so. Ask them to go on to the streets of Athens and wave banners and flags, demanding police protection for the immigrant children, demanding the statutory incarceration of this guy. Condemn this on their website, in their rag mag, on their pamphlets etc.
Ask them [GD] to put the story and the condemnation up on their website, with the same sensationalist pictures they use for everything else, the bold text, exclamation marks, the lot.
Surely they know who to approach to do this. This gives them the opportunity to show the world they are not the biggots everybody knows them to be.
Ask them to publicly state on the web site, in their publications, that they want their followers to show they know the distinction between the good and the bad, and give basic, common respect to the vast majority of these communities who are indeed good people. Ask them to insist that their letter writers stop referring to the complete group of immigrants as “filth”, “Thieves”, “Criminals”, etc.
Ask them to write in and insist their demands are published.

She did, and was told to get lost. They changed her mind for her. If we can do that a few thousand times, then we're on a winner.

Its great that at least one mind is changed, hope that would be the start of a chain reaction. Often people are too brainwashed into believing what is told by their respective parties and then swallow it without challenging it . As Captain Con said on here before part of winning an argument is knowing your enemies arguments too and that is what you did exactly. A wide campaign to point out the fallacies and idiocy of GD's policies and statements may yield very positive results in the long term. Fair play Eliphant on that one ..

Glad to hear that the GD offices in Athens were partially destroyed by fire today. He who plays with fire...

Sad to say another immigrant, this time a 25 year old Tunesian man, was stabbed to death in Thessaloniki. Police are "investigating"...

There are serious fears regarding immigrant vs greeks violence erupting in Athens at the end of Ramadan, as the muslim community has been gven access to the national stadium and allowed to use it for final prayers for all Muslims in the capital. Of course, Golden Dawn had to object for all the sad reasons.
Meanwhile, there is a serious shift in attitude taken place, and it must be said, about time. Todays Ekathimerini carries this opinion piece "The Law of the Gang", explicitly calling for the legislators of the country to take action. More and more people refer to the crimes as Hate crimes, and openly express their revultion with those responsible for them. Golden Dawn is very quiet, which is unusual...

UNHCR Statement on the racist murders in Greece by gangs using motorcycles. The statements asks for avoidance of racism by politicians and zero tolerance by police.

Neither of these will happen - some of the perpetrators may well be police. Syriza. and local neighbourhoods should organise anti-racism citizens defence, if it is not already doing so.

The trial is coming up of Beate Zschäpe who is accused along with two others of being members of a Neo nazi group and charged in the killings of nine Turkish immigrants between 2000 and 2007. The charges are being widened to include bank robbery and abetment to murder (is that a lesser charge than murder itself?). If people remember as was mentioned on here and a few other sites this whole case caused a few members of the police and others to resign so how far deep does this run? Any conviction of Zschape is likely only to be the tip of the iceberg.but will we find out any more on top of this?

As stated before, there is a serious change happening in terms of tolerance towards GD and their thuggery.

The US embassy in Greece has issued the following warning to US citizens living or visiting Greece:
U.S. Embassy personnel and their families are strongly urged to avoid these areas between 9 p.m. and dawn. There have been recent reports of violent attacks by extremists in Athens and other major urban areas against persons who are perceived to be foreign migrants.
It's finally on their radar, and about time too. If Greece wants its "friends" to stand by it, the government better look up and pay attention to statements like this. Uncle Sam has noticed...

The other rather encouraging fact was a serious clash between GD thugs and riot police

The police had rounded up some 400 immigrants, which should delight the GD crew. No such thing! When it became clear that the immigrants were being transported to an army barracks outside Athens where they would be processed and repatriated, the GD scumbags attacked the police!?!?
Reason? They accused the police of turning a "sacred" Greek army property into a "tourist centre for immigrants"...

They attacked the police with baseball bats wrapped in Greek flags (Oh, the symbolism!). The police responded with bare battons and tear gas. No flags.
