Doctors, lawyers, teachers, politicians and policemen are among the accused and many are about to face public exposure for the first time. ... the 1940s through 2005,
The database includes information on about 5,000 people, mostly men, who were kicked out of the Boy Scouts because of suspected sexual abuse from the late 1940s through the mid-2000s.

Boy Scouts released its hidden files on some 5,000 suspected pedophiles last week on a court order, and it's clear from this terrifying map from a Los Angeles Times interactive that sexual abuse affected troops across the nation. The Times used the database of 5,000 men and a handful of women who were kicked out of Boy Scouts of America between 1957 and January 2005 for sexual abuse allegations. Each dot represents the location of the troop that was connected to a suspected pedophile.

If you go to the Times' site, you can also click on dots and see a list of files related to that location below the map. To the left in the interactive, a graph shows the volume of cases by year. The scariest part? That timeline "shows the volume of cases opened by year; however, an un*known num*ber of files were purged by the Scouts pri*or to the early 1990s."

Santorum attended Penn State. He claims his grades suffered because of his conservative beliefs. Santorum once sponsored Sandusky in 2002 for a Congressional Angels In Adoption award. ThinkProgress notes that when the story broke last winter, Santorum said he'd be "rooting for" head football coach Joe Paterno and wished him the best. Santorum said it was unfair Paterno was fired. Paterno passed away in January, and observers now say the Freeh report demonstrates that Paterno would've likely faced criminal charges such as child endangerment, perjury and conspiracy in his neglect to report Sandusky to authorities.

Former Penn State president Graham B. Spanier was charged Thursday with eight criminal counts connected to leading a “conspiracy of silence” in covering up allegations of child sex abuse against Jerry Sandusky, Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly announced.

Spanier, 64, is charged with perjury, two counts of endangering the welfare of children, obstruction of an investigation, failure to report child abuse and three criminal conspiracy counts. Kelly said that a grand jury investigation had difficulty getting information from Penn State until Spanier and two other top officials were forced out of their jobs soon after Sandusky was arrested last November.
“This was not a mistake, this was not an oversight,” Kelly said at a press conference Thursday afternoon. “This was a conspiracy of silence by top officials.”

Too right. Anybody who engaged in a cover-up of child abuse should be exposed and see jail time.

And I mean anybody- from football coaches, university senior staff and right up to Cardinals and Archbishops.

Anyone like to argue with that?
