Default PIIG number 4 for the IMF- Troika begin 'monitoring' Italy

How about this for some good news before the weekend? The IMF/ECB are now to begin monitoring the Italian economy, the clearest sign yet that an intervention of some sort is increasingly inevitable in Italy. This is a disaster for the Eurozone.

Italy, under fierce pressure from financial markets and European peers, has reportedly agreed to have the IMF and the EU monitor its progress with long delayed reforms of pensions, labour markets and privatisation.

Italian debt is somewhere around 2 trillion euros I believe? Anyone spare some coppers for an old fat gangster with numerous concubines to support?

This has to be the end of the Eurozone- 'too big to bail, too big to fail'. The Spanish government must be sweating now, they're next for the high jump.

I'm actually looking forward to the lot collapsing, eurozone, federal europe, the lot. If there is anarchy and chaos I shall use that time well.

I'll be eating the nearest wealthy person's fridge contents and fuelling up to bring some deep unpleasantness to people I hate.

The cops will be far too busy deserting to stop me as well. If I'm quick I can satisfy my lust for a few eveners before the inevitable reorganisation starts.

The Dollar didnt collapse in 1929. a quarter of the population still became homeless paupers though. What is your point? Hardly relevant that some form of toilet paper is still currency in England when the euro collapses. We're all in the shitter and we can all get out of it by doing the same thing: revolutionising. Lenin didn't worry about what currency the Tsar used-he just wanted to shoot the bastard and overthrow feudalism.

Italy's AJ Chopra clones will be heading to Rome next week for the first of quarterly inspections. I wonder will they do the symbolic power walk to the Finance Ministry as is the IMF tradition when they take over a country's financial administration?
Rome could be quite a scary place to be in the next few days when the penny drops with the Italians that they have joined the Portugal/Ireland/Greece club.
In our case we only found out when Patrick Honohan rang up Morning Ireland from Frankfurt.
I wonder who's got the tricky task of telling the Italians?

But Lenin was in Zurich when it all kicked off in February 1917 and had to blag his train ticket home from the German Empire. Revolutions happen when it becomes clear that 'business as usual' is no longer viable in the eyes of most citizens. And like you say about Lenin, people won't be worrying about what currency to use - they'll be busy abolishing yesterday in all its guises in the name of tomorrow.
"It is we the workers who built these palaces and cities here in Spain and in America and everywhere. We, the workers, can build others to take their place. And better ones! We are not in the least afraid of ruins. We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts."

Whoever does can expect a bullet in the head. Red Brigades were popular for a reason. Berlusconi and the mafia have ruled Italy for 40 odd years. Watch the film IL DIVO in relation to their former prime minister in the 90s. It is a mix of evil mob rule by a minority clique and gombeenism. Nowhere shows up the farce of democracy like Italy in my view after seeing that film. Makes you rethink what Lenin said in relation to democracy and the state. Anyone who even questioned all the murders by past Italian govt's was usually silenced or killed. The troubles weren't a patch on it. Judges, civil servants, journalists, anyone with a voice who spoke out. No wonder nearly a million marched a week or so back.

Exactly. The methods shouldnt be questioned either, as long as they benefit the people. Stalin's ploy against Hitler with the two year armistice is a prime example. Lenin's train ticket home by promising the Germans peace, knowing he'd have a good chance of getting Russia its western land back once the war was over. It's all a question of who is smart enough to do what is neccesary-by almost any means necessary-'to link the chain' as Lenin said. In Ireland in the not too distant future, it will be the occupy camp and Eirigi in my view. I dont rate the ULA at all. look to Italy to see where we were last year, look to Greece to see where we will be in a few weeks.
