Please don't.

The thread title reflects the issue that caused the thread to be started. Changing the title is not only confusing but it damages the historical accuracy of the site. When it's done it means we can't look back after a period of time and see how the site was responding to issues.

Changing titles can also undermine the message that the thread starter was trying to advance and can even appear as if he/she was making a point that they might totally disagree with.

If there's a significant new development why not just start a new thread?

There is also the very real question of how to keep the population fed. It looks as that if the people don't act to protect themselves there will be a government of bankers backed by the army, doing whatever Germany tells them to.

I don't see the Greek working classes accepting that too easily.

Im very concerned about them CF. The reports of people rooting in bins, people looking for money begging on the streets its heartbreaking to be honest (I can be a sesnsetive soul at times!) . Do you by any chance know of any blogs that are out there that are detailing things on the ground and how things are going from a working class perspective in Greece? I am thinking of putting a post together on the views from the ordinary person on the street!

Last time I looked, there was a cabinet meeting going on, and Papadopoulos widely said to be going, in favour of a national government / coalition.

If there is no election, but a handover, surely the KKE, any real lefts, should pull out or Parliament and demand a general election ?

It would seem very unlikely that this will all be agreed to without any objection from any of the Left.

Most likely the outcome will be that predicted by To Vima hours ago, with PASOK's L-Pap in charge, and a New Democracy vice premier. In other words: meet the new boss - same as the old boss, only this time with the Fed's blessing.

Appears there has been an agreement reached. Evangelos Venizelos has been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Papandreou

It appears similar to the "Finance Bill" deal struck here between FG/LAB/FF put bill through/ease passage (in this case Greek bailout) and the elections.

Talks are on for a unity government, RTE says, to be led by someone from the Central Bank or a former Greek EU Commissioner - with the sole role of driving through the second Greek bailout and presumably the austerity that goes with it.

All to be pushed through BEFORE an election in February.
