Trivial Thread, but they seem to be gaining in popularity here recently.
This gives a whole new meaning to Norman Tebbitt's phrase "On Yer Bike"

Yeah, but I bet that robot couldn't work out the credit card charge system on Dublin Bikes.

Yo,
I just took a look at the websites for Dublin Bikes, and DCís Capitalbikeshare. Looks like each program is designed to do different things and therefore differences exist. That said, most of the costs in DC are lower. Dublin requires a security deposit of E150, about $200, plus an annual fee of E120, about $160. DC requires only an annual fee of $75. DC on the other hand actively discourages tourists from hiring out the bikes for a day, by charging exorbitant rates, and redirects such customers to private bike rental operators. Is Dublin Bikes an exclusively ďfor profitĒ operation? DC is a public/private partnership with corporate sponsorship. Maybe you should start a campaign for Dublin to adopt the DC model.

In rural Ireland it is now courting death to cycle or walk on the roads. As there are no margins on most local roads and cars drive at speed, clipping the hedgerows, there is no place of safety.
Now with the dark days coming on, we have a local Drive the Kids campaign.
Changing times.

No doubt to be followed in five years time with a 'how to combat obesity among kids' campaign.
