The first Irish site I've posted. The RTE website is top class, with text, video, audio and photographic coverage of national and international news and business news.

The ESRI Report, the demonstrations yesterday against closure of Dublin swimming pools and the US nuclear summit (will Iran be the main topic of behind scenes discussions ? ) are all covered.

The closure of these pools would be a crime !

Edit - I can never listen to radio on this site. Firewall problems ? *sighs*

Yes it is a good site but unfortunately if newspaper owners have their way we will lose it all.

Newspaper owners are gearing up for a clash with RTE over its free news website, as publishers move to charge for online content.

The issue is to be raised at government level, with newspaper owners saying that RTE should not be allowed to use taxpayers’ money to provide news for free in competition with commercial publishers.

The representative group for the newspaper industry, National Newspapers of Ireland, is preparing a policy document on the issue.

I think the fact that we pay a licence fee gives us the right to this service.

If that argument held, TV3 could get RTE closed for subsidising Television programmes.

Bullies. I forgot to mention that the site is updated throughout the day. It is head to head with Breakingnews.ie, also a very good service.

I use both.

This website, and TG4, are the best things I get out of my licence fee.

They'll want to close us down next.

RTE website is fairly good for news. It is updated throughout the day but it can be quite delayed in terms of its updates. I also find spelling mistakes on a near daily basis - which annoys me greatly as I read something. They are often rectified in a couple of hours.
