Interesting choice of words by Mr. Mitchell.

GAY Mitchell, Fine Gael's presidential nominee, would prefer if women "didn't sneak off" to other countries for abortions, but rather sought help here to raise the baby.

Mitchell, who says he is "strongly pro-life", is under increasing scrutiny ahead of the election about his views on homosexuality, gay marriage and abortion

This little man who has a network in Dublin South Central that would put Mossad to shame has looked at Ireland and identified his only possible constituency, hence look out for an increase in such rantings. Next on his list will I'm sure be a statement on Ireland's loss of identity, farmers' protection and no dignity being afforded to old people, then back to being Defender of the Faith.

Is Gay Mitchell's PR flak suggesting that women should be prevented from travelling if there is a suspicion that they may be going for an abortion?

If Gay Mitchell or his PR flak have some ethical objection to abortion I suggest they don't sign up for one.

Otherwise none of their business.

I noticed while travelling through Inchicore a while back, graffiti on a few walls which said "No Queen for Prez". This was while Norris was still in the running.
I must stress, of course, that I am not for one second suggesting this was the work of any particular campaign.

It would be interesting if the Mitchell campaign turned this election into some sort of "moral" referendum.

Fuming gently. We had a $(^&$%£ referendum on that and 60% of us voted NOT to pregnancy test the 11-50 age group every time they approached an airport.

Mr Mitchell can rest assured that he will assuredly be receiving my LAST PREFERENCE vote.

Seethe, fume. Well, it will be interesting to see how many people actually vote for this particular dino, come the election.

And someone needs to start asking him awkward questions, like, what to do with foetuses that are incapable of life outside the womb (D case, for example), cancer victims etc.

Why would you even give him a preference vote?

Actually as right as you are... he is merely a right wing fundamentalist throw back ultra Catholic whose family ran their constituencies like Dons. If there was a burka in his faith his wife would be wearing one. President of my local dog kennel maybe but, of the Nation? No way.
