Rules
These Site Rules are a brief summary of some key points to remember when posting here. All members will be asked to contribute to developing Forum Rules and to stick to them. If you need any help in using the site, ask a moderator, administrator or experienced poster, by pm or on the thread.
This is a community driven forum, the more you put in, the more we all get out. Rules will be amended and added to as needed to cater for new issues. Give your feedback if you think changes are needed.
All members are responsible for their own posts and should not use anonymity to post anything they would not be prepared to stand over under their own name.
The purpose of the Site Rules is to allow good quality, constructive debate, in which political views are freely expressed with a consistent focus on "the ball, not the man".
When posting, please observe the rules below.
1) Think before you post. Experienced posters should help new posters with technical and general advice on posting. All members should contribute to developing the site.
2) No Libelous Posting: people commented on are entitled to their good name unless proven otherwise – check your facts and back up your views with reliable linked sources.
3) No "outing" of poster identities, whether on this or other sites: outing is a banning offence.
4) No Muppetry, Puppetry, Flaming, Picture Spam,Trolling, Abuse, Misogeny or Racism. We can all express opinions with out resorting to any of them. Please be civil, even in heated debate. This site does not allow pms to be used for abuse. Any offending posters will be barred from pmming.
5) No Advertising, Spamming or Shilling. Contact the admins if you want to arrange advertising space. Spammers will be site-banned, hunted down and used as test subjects.
6) No "recruitment" drives by direct contact with Site Members. Official sites can be linked and public meetings publicised, but permission of the Admin is needed before "recruitment" threads/posts.
7) No Porn, Rick Rollin or abuse or illegal posting of any kind.
8) No Posting of Copyrighted Material. Please do not post copyrighted material in this forum – if available on line, link it instead. By all means suggest an article is someone asks, but don't post an article. Also, please source or reference anything you do post.
9) We’re Here Because We’re Here -
Other forums are interesting too, but prolonged discussion of other forums should be taken to those sites or to an Indymedia report.
10) Violent images where used should be treated with care and respect, linked only, not of anyone recently dead as people may not have been informed, should be accurately captioned and not used as spam or in a jokey or hateful/inciting way.
11) The Moderator and Administrator’s Decision is final. Don’t argue at length with the mod. Take general points to "Feedback and Questions" forum and open them up for discussion.
Rules will be updated from time to time, please watch for updates.

Instead of having to bump it, would it be possible to make it a "sticky" so it stays at the top of the list of Threads at all times ... then folk can't say I never saw it and all that ;)
Or maybe as a highlighted banner to a link at the top or something ....

I'm just putting these up for a look, as the anger levels are high, and a reminder is needed that no matter how we're feeling there are some types of posts that are not legal and or/ contrary to site rules.
Constructive outlets for the rage are needed :)

Bump.
Just a reminder - it may be quite a while since some have read these.
On copyright - please do not post whole copyrighted articles. A link, and up to 10% of the article is sufficient and a summary in your own words of why it is relevant is enough for the purposes of discussion. Creative commons, government info sites, press releases, and wikipedia etc. are free to use, but not at such length, preferably, as to break the flow of discussion.
Please also, out of consideration for the busy or frantic, if you post a link, would you say what it is and why you are posting it.
Any suggestions for rule changes can be discussed here.

Having not been banned I demand two things one
that i not receive this message
To be able to post links or images your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 2 posts.
Please remove links from your message, then you will be able to submit your pos
and two that my status as Founding Member be restored or even added to
I think Senior and Glorious Inspirational Founding Member might be appropriate so mods know their proper place .....of menial subservience to senior cadres whims
it would be nice if my history was added to my profile also
PS Happy New Year to You all

[QUOTE]...that my status as Founding Member be restored
Fixed.
it would be nice if my history was added to my profile also
I haven't a clue how to do that. Investigations are under way.
May have to experiment on Kev Bar.

And the same to you.

In light of recent developments now would seem to be a good time to review and update site rules. It is essential that we protect the site and ourselves as posters on this forum, from any possible legal actions. Please take time to review the current site rules and comment on any updates you feel may be necessary.
Site Rules can be found here http://www.politicalworld.org/showpost.php?p=69&postcount=1 which is a link to the OP on this thread.
We would also appreciate if you would again look at our Privacy Statement and Terms of Use -

http://irishbarrister.com/defamation.html
Just an overview of the Defamation Act which came in 2009. Whereby the old definition changed it was replaced by
a defamatory statement is one which tends to injure a person’s reputation in the eyes of reasonable members of society
The plaintiff must also prove that the statement was untrue, was published maliciously and referred to the plaintiff, his property or office, profession, calling, trade or business.
Some other points are irrelevant as they show that its not defamation if it is said to one other person etc but those points above and the link may provide something with which we could add rules regarding defamation. There is another point there where sites may be vicariously liable for the words of others if written which could be taken to mean the site if we knew could land us in some sort of trouble.
Hope was ok to post this but its just a little research being done and a few points might be worth addressing. :)

I was told that during an election the rules for defamation or libel become stricter when applied or public reps. Not sure it's true though
What does " bump" mean?

Bump is internet-eze for "I'm going to post a random word to put this thread at the top of the forum" :)
Do you mean defamation by public reps., or of them ?
The law, so far as I know doesn't change during the period of an election.
Politicians have a certain amount of protection from defamation law if speaking in the public interest, but it is limited.
A politician once gave me a very profuse formal public apology for remarks made. Not in an election period though.

Of them.
Really?
If anything, I think, the contrary. The normal "cut and thrust" of politics and vigorous political debate is a requirement for democracy in an election campaign. Were they suggesting that heckling be banned ?
Of course, the police were called in Buswells when someone had the temerity to address questions face to face with a politician. And, reportedly, they took away the wrong man :)
But mere defamation, non political, particularly if malicious, is always against the law.
Would you be able to mention who said this to you ?

If you search for politicalworld.org in inverted commas and then your user name again in inverted commas you might be able to find it . Eg
https://www.google.com/search?q=google&rlz=1C1ASUT_enIE444IE444&aq=f&oq=goo&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1C1ASUT_enIE444IE444&biw=1366&bih=681&sclient=psy-ab&q=%22fluffybiscuits%22+%22politicalworld.org%22&oq=%22fluffybiscuits%22+%22politicalworld.org%22&gs_l=serp.3...1898.13065.0.13321.43.37.4.0.0.1.232 .3781.27j9j1.37.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.5.psy-ab.PCecacJAjiQ&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.43148975,d.ZG4&fp=da001449dc65d96
