Youths Questioned about Gang Rape in Kildare

SIX teenage boys have been interviewed by gardai following the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl.

The girl, a foreign national, is alleged to have been raped by six youths in a house and in a field.

I can remember a foreign tourist wandering through Dublin's south inner city being gang raped by some of the joy riding, drug dealing, streetcorner, scumbag element. What was the pertinent fact in that case ?

So basically you are trying to niggle at the fact that the origins of the accused here has something to do with the crime, except that rape, unfortunately, is fairly endemic in Irish society and as we've recently found out, has been for some time in the past, long before johhny foreigner started coming. There was a report published in 2005 by Children At Risk Ireland (CARI) and it highlighted gang-rape. Can't find the link - but it did mention that drink-fuelled gang rapes had risen alarmingly and that very few attackers had ended up in court. It also revealed that in some instances both the rapists and their victims have been "out of their minds" when the assaults took place. Cari clinical director Alan Corbett said there was a "significant" problem with gang rape around the country. He added that about 50 to 66 per cent of calls to their helpline last year (2004) involved gang rape.

I think a life sentence is required for these type of subhuman animals.

Now to address this Kildare case; if the perps are found guilty should we repatriate them or spend 20 x100,000 = 2 million imprisoning each of them?

As its a current case and sub judice, we won't be discussing it at all.

Sorry, my bad. The judge said that "technically" it was not a gang rape. The young woman from Central America was on her way home when she was surrounded by 4 decent white Irishmen. One attempted to rape her but she escaped from him but they caught her and a second one raped her with the others in "proximity".

The rapist got all of 6 years. Out in 3 probably.
