That awful has-been, Brussels-knows-best, former-PD had a free pollitical broadcast on the lunchtime RTE news to promote himself as a candidate for the Presidency. He has no party - but is open to persuasion by Fine Gael, Fianna Fail or any right-wing group. He has no policy. He has no idea other than that he thinks he should be let keep his snout in the public trough.
With Bertie and this new 'businessman' whose name eludes me and some other old renegades entering the fray, it will not be necessary for us to send the tumbrils all around Ireland - just round them up at the count centre.

RTE also ran Sean Gallagher on the Late late. Hopefully, RTE's hype will cause the right-wing nomination votes to be split so neither can run.

Some people would love to see Cox in the Áras ... read that on Twitter and I'm fairly sure it was a serious enough tweet but I honestly couldn't help loudly guffawing!

Does David Norris have a view on this?:)

I think if we're to have a Cat Pox as "_resident" of the Aras...it would be no worse than any other free-loader...the presidency is an absolute joke and a total...total waste of money...akin to every one of the EU reps; therefore...let the Pox be Pres....it makes no difference if the presidency is allowed to suck money anyway !!

Help! Has David Norris got the requisite number of nominations yet?? I gather Fingal stepped into the breach, but he needs a few more.

I did three or four searches for "Pat Cox" before I found this thread....

'Mr Cox, who is currently out of the country'

and there is his epitaph.

The Bilderberg Group are holding their annual shindig in Switzerland from the 9th of June until the 12th of June. Does this explain his absence?

In the Pacific where their leaders live the high life in the USA, Hong Kong, Cairns, etc., the popular phrase is "off island". :D

Mr. Cox has applied to join FG, according to the RTE news.

Ho hum.

Jobs For The Boys, make sure the job (and pension) goes to One Of Us...

The Irish political system is showing itself to be completely incapable of internal reform. A Cox candidacy would eloquently show that FG hold the electorate in just as much contempt as FF ever did.

The only question is whether or not people in Ireland will ever do anything about the corruption....or will the pattern of centuries remain undisturbed, where anyone uncomfortable with the stinking set-up simply emigrates, leaving behind the corrupt and the moronic?
