Just starting on TV3, for anyone who has missed it.

Two bits of that movie screamed out at me the first time I saw it. The court case scene where the gombeen/peasant friction which has dogged the 26 ever since is highlighted and the chastisement of the all-excommunicating Catholic church which rolled with whoever had the upper hand. (..with a few honourable exceptions' I believe the quote is)

Mind you, the best part was Ken ripping Miriam a new one on her show at the time.

It was quite adept in capturing the various political currents of the time, I thought.

Relied heavily on O'malleys books by all account. May they never go out of print !

Btw, how is it that we could produce men like O'Malley a century ago and in our time we have likes of Haughey, Blank cheque Bertie and Cowan. It baffles me ...

It's the times that were, and are, in it.
