I heard this morning on the wireless that Dunphia has declared for SF . Whether that matters, given he's no. 2 in the charts, as far as political journeymen are concerned(right behind bombadaier Harris). Then I spied Johnny 'non-resident' Giles' backing of the Labour Party, I just wondered what the negative impact of this political collision will have on the analysis of peil Liútair on RTÉ a dó.
From the Léinte Gorma to Sín SF in the blink of a broadcast?

Saw the title and thought it was Gilmore.
That would have been a story at this stage.
Where does this leave Brady, on the sweet left?

Big oversight on my behaif. Imagine, skipping Brady. SUNDERLAND!!!!!
Brady would be Joe Higgins(until I find out he had a FF upbringing). He strolls/strolled across Europe like a rogue Hapsburgian wild goose.
Except, Count Taaffe would have been a better Hoops manager.

But what do you all reckon to Dunphia's call for Ruadhan Mac Aodháin? I'd have thought he was more of a Paul Sommervile type guy in Dublin SE. No? He was boasting about his listenership this morning. I reckon it's 'apartness' to boost his figures more given he is up against the uber-elites in Maid Marion and Sam Smythin 'n' westin.....

When Dunphy was writing for the Sunday Independent, Shinners described him as rabidly anti Republican.
Such is the journey SF has taken in recent years that they attract new supporters like him.
Whos next Harris?

Herr Harris has already declared for the Blueshirts this time round but I'm sure he'll get around to SF eventually, and Dunphia was behind them(na léinte gorma) on the Late Late that night before his new found SF support. It wouldn't surprise me if he changes his mind publically before Friday. Christ, Ben Dunne has already 'come out' in SF's favour. And with the Beard as their leader , who needs friends? Reminds me of the ad from the 80's...can't play , can't sing....you'll go a long way.

Alaister Campbell was bigging them up last week.
A few days later, The Tory Raj of Ireland, Owen Patterson said Martin Mc Guinness as "First Minister" would be a positive step.
Some rebels!!

The Tories just think they're only going to burn GERMAN bondholders. Sure they haven't been rebels this long while. With a FG/Labour pact agreed , them and the ULA are the only alternatives in the 26 but I know you can't see it from that angle.

The fact that Dunphy got banned from playing for Ireland due to an interview he did condemning a trip by the National team to play in Pinochet's Chile in the 70's would suggest he has political standards.
The fact that Dunphy actually went on the trip would suggest otherwise;)

Sure, he's tried to be all things to someone. The fact that he says he's voting SF on FG(Newstalk/Hook/Yates) radio seems that some barriers are being broke. Listenership figures being the most important thing to him.

According to Johnny Giles' latest tome, he keeps faux-whinging about this as a result only getting 23 caps and not the 25 he needed to get a statuate or some such. Which informs one just as well about his character. Interestingly, Giles said that awoke him to politics before he decided to back Gilmore by standing under his oxter at a press photo op a week ago.

sure for someone taking a new allegiance eamo has slagged eoin harris a lot for doing so too-even on show last day. still the man is no.1 for sunday radio, cant argue with that-hes always covering the big issues with good guests. mind you, he was canvassing with shane ross and also said hes voting for sommerville(who aint really right or left btw) so hes very much a mixed bag is eamo-hes voting shinners for default and referenda(which will BOTH happen), a financial expert and a centre journalist fighting cronyism. is eamo just covering all the bases on voting for what he wants to see happen rather than ideals?

I remember Dunphy's hysterical rants and also remember getting an account of a visit he made for a talk in Derry from Mary Nelis in the mid-90s. Dunphy adhered to and exceded the establishment line on Republicans at all times and there is little to suggest that this attitude has changed. Looking at Dunphy's career of political commentary it's not hard to see that his strings have been pulled along the way and I would think that this latest outburst is little different.
