Can't see much of a change here, McGrath will probably just scrape in for the last seat. Maybe there will be a change of face for FG, Buttimer for Clune ? Chris O leary may have a slim chance.

I got that one right. Chris o Leary was the big surprise for me, I did not think he would do that good, I kinda expected Buttimer to replace Clune, she had a very low profile for the time she was in the Dail. I'm glad McGrath got in, he works hard for the area and is a very nice fella. I worked with him in council and always found him and his brother ( Cllr Seamus) genuine blokes.

I'm sure Reinhard Heydrich and Khieu Samphan were 'genuine blokes' in their time too. Do the policies they espouse and more importantly, vote for matter for you at all?

of course they matter to me, I spent a few years fighting their policies in council and most of my adult life in a party that was totally opposed to them, but on local issues i found them good to work with, and i make no apology for working with them or against them in any issue that affected people in my community. As for comparing them with Hydrich and Samphan...thats a bit silly

They cut the minimum wage but they're good on local issues. FFS...

when involved in local politics....you do what you have to do to improve the community you represent. Whats the point in screaming about minimum wage...health service...welfare cuts...bank bailouts, when all you want is consensus on a local playground or youth center issue ! Your neighbours may appreciate your concern on the big issues, but what they really want is that playground for their kids, and they expect you to work for that.

So your vote in a national election is decided by matters entirely inside the South Ring Road, and you think that that's rational politics? Sure Me Hole, Michael McGrath, Buttimer, Lynch and the rest of them can deliver the local goodies, but always at the cost of $crewing the same people in the bigger picture (minimum wage cuts, benefits cuts, no new public housing, cuts to essential services, etc.). But you and yours get the playground, and you don't care a tuppenny fart who these sociopaths beggar in order to give you that. You sound like a model citizen, bud.

You're obviously someone who speaks from vast experience...I bow to your superior knowledge and exit from what has become a silly little arguement

Yeah, I'll let it drop too. I'm not getting my point across amicably, so I'll stop winding you up. However there is a serious argument about the nature of electoralism to be had I think, maybe another time...

Can't wind me up boy :)...professionals have tried it for 26 years, and their wind ups consisted of beatings...surveilance..and a few other methods.on the electoralism...yeah its kinda fckd up and corrupt and you get sucked in, but I'm a great believer in.....
