Rumours doing the rounds but unconfirmed as yet that O'Keeffe is standing down and not giving the good people of Rathcormac the chance to boot him up the prefab.

I think his son stood before and got the bum's rush did he not? There was some flap involving one of the O'Keeffe banamhs anyway ... or did he take over Ned's Council seat?
Hmm

Yes ... coopted to step into Ned's wellies in 1997 in Mallow and then elected every local since in Fermoy although his vote dropped considerably in 2009...

And the FF infighting is well and truly underway in Cork East - delicious :D
The "O'Keeffe Seat" is under threat ....
There were unconfirmed reports last night that Fianna Fáil HQ is seeking to implement a one-seat strategy in the constituency, and that either outgoing TD Michael Ahern or Cork County Councillor Kevin O’Keeffe will be asked to step aside. Mr O’Keeffe is the son of outgoing TD Ned O’Keeffe who has announced his intention to retire from politics.
