Aer Arann and Aer Lingus are adding a sixth plane to their fleet as part of its franchise agreement.

The new plane will be used to launch two new routes between Dublin and Bristol and Aberdeen from March, with onward connections from to Dublin to Aer Lingus trans-Atlantic services.

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Aer Arann, will fly three return flights six days a week and two return flights on Saturdays between Dublin and Bristol.

The Dublin flights will connect Aer Lingus' New York, Boston, Chicago and Orlando services to and from Bristol, which currently has no direct services to the US.

The new Dublin-Aberdeen services will operate every day except Saturday. The Scottish airport also has no direct services to the US.

Good to see that these two airlines, who have been experiencing difficult times, are making a go of this franchise agreement. They now offer 15 routes and are expected to carry up to 750,000 people next year. Thanks to the US customs at the new Terminal 2 these flights are attractive to both long and short-haul passengers making them a very attractive service. No doubt this franchise agreement has played a big part in keeping Aer Arann afloat.

Yes, that is true that they have suffered a lot and then again came forward with great improvements. This is really encouraging. :)

British Island Airways used to serve the Bristol to Dublin route in the 70s using the Handley Page Herald 213.
