Some FF lad on the RTE (Pravda) news aint very happy about the legislation that Grianna Fail are pushing for, the stuff we know FF hate such as a ban on corporate donations and changing in the planning system.

Many will have to make a call if the pro hunting lobby is bigger than the anti hunting lobby. For instance there are large hunts in Meath, however you also now have a large urban population who dont have much time for hunting.
Animal welfare would have little impact on many peoples vote, however looking at some of the material produced by RISE (Rural Ireland Says Enough) (http://irishelectionliterature.wordpress.com/2010/03/28/rise-rural-ireland-says-enough-anti-green-poster-2010/)
they appear to be playing the angling card.
Whilst hunting etc may provide some employment, Coarse fishing is in a different league altogether. That is both in tourist numbers and the amount of people who have an interest in fishing.
It might be enough to push a few TDs.

If the Greens get their way on hunting, then fishing will be the next thing they want banned. Next will be laws banning the sale and eating of meat.

Then there's planning reform. I heard it. It was a very public shot across the Greens bows by the FF back bench who are not happy to see the Greens getting "their" jobs.
If Cowen can keep them distracted in this way, he is cleverer, or luckier, than I gave him credit for.

Saw some of the back benchers on teh Week in Politics come out against some Green issues. Looks like the the FF backbenchers will allow the likes of NAMA be passed yet when it comes to Tom down the road being annoyed about a Fox hunting ban they'll stand up and want their voice heard.
Cann't have that Ciaran Cuffe guy at all.... I'm glad he is not my boss or I have no working relationship with him, as I would find it hard working with someone like that.

It's absolutely ridiculous isn't it. NAMA is a thousand times more undemocratic than a hunting ban, I'd say public opinion on the subject is tight. Also, a hunting ban could be theoretically overturned by a new government but we are indebted to NAMA for generations. Those sneaky spineless cu^ts of backbenchers should have been calling for a referendum on NAMA. The hunting ban should be ammened to substitute stags with FF backbenchers!

No ban on any activity like this should be tolerated, it is moral dictatorship. Imposing moral values of one group on another is unacceptable, whether it is contraception laws or hunting laws. Hunting and fishing are very tightly regulated natural activities, unlike most areas of Irish life, those regulations are observed. The Green movement has a cult like hatred for any field sport, that is fine, but it is not a basis for making a law that will be obeyed.

They dont give a sh1t about green laws, its just an acceptable way of giving the front bench the two fingers.
