I'm speechless after reading this that O'Keeffe would be so brazen about it...here's hoping the good people of Cork do their duty and let him to face the consequences by losing his seat.

I'm going to post the text, because I can't trust myself with words after reading this.

A site alongside the existing school has been identified and architectural designs have been drawn up. The local community has campaigned for a new school for the past decade.

Deputy O’Keeffe insisted, however, that the school was not a priority for him, as Rathcormac was not a place where he gained many votes.

He told the Evening Echo:

“There is a fabulous layout of Portakabins there. There are many other schools that need the funding first. Rathcormac NS will get a new building when funds become available, simple as that.”

Deputy O’Keeffe said he was being honest with the parents’ council of Rathcormac NS when he said he would not lobby the Minister for Education, Batt O’Keeffe.

He explained that he had not received votes in the area when he ran for election to the Dail in 2007.

“I was contacted by a representative for the parents’ council and told her straight out my position. Des O’Malley used to do the same. All things being equal, I asked her why I should look after the people of Rathcormac if they didn’t look after me? I told her there was no funding available.”

It's a bit out of date, but it's worth reminding ourselves of what these 'dissident' FF TDs really are, self-serving slíbhíns who'd happily let you rot if you didn't give them a vote

Good example of the Royal family's relationship to commoners

What amazes me was that he felt free to say it an interview. It shows extreme arrogance. It was almost like a warning "vote for me or else".

It was almost like a warning "vote for me or else".

That is EXACTLY what it was. 'I'm watching you. Vote for me and I'll fix your school and roads......Don't vote for me and I won't'.

He's been watching those boxes on election day.......hope he is watching the boxes on next election day......:p

I remember speaking to outraged cittizens of Rathcormac at the time. The story is all true.

Sad though that Cork remains a FF stronghold. At David McWilliams Outsiders play in Cork last night he said, in answer to some worrying questions from the audience, 'If you vote FF again you deserve all you get'. There was applause from about a third of the audience, but silence in many quarters. Cronyism is away of life so deep the likes of O Keefe will still be seen as cute and clever by many. God help us.
