Yes, Joe is running in Dublin West. Cian Prendiville is also a confirmed candidate in Limerick. Discussions on others still taking place.

Shame no one from the SP stood in Donegal. I hope you get a good number of candidates running, so that people have some choice.

see CF its like meath central for the left-that is a building left base where SF will win a seat with peadar toibin if he runs in 2011. We have a good base there but we need more WP councillors before we can get many TD's. Its about knowing where you are strongest and going from there, you know? I.e. we will prob win a seat in Cork with Ted Tynan and another in waterford with a 3rd in fingal not impossible.

Who'd win a seat in Fingal?

ha. this is the trouble ive been having. you see as far as i know, we have a very good chance of winning those two munster seats, and a few whispers were heard of a seat in fingal being a chance, and another part of dublin...tbh i would only expect two seats myself. However we have our meeting this weekend coming on the matter and I will inform you all as soon as our candidates are announced. Or rather one of us will as it might be more appropriate that more senior party figures such as left on this forum do the honours. I am hopeful we will get at least two, hopefully more. But if you look at the eighties we started with one and built our way upto seven. Who knows how that might have gone, but for the split? 2-3 defo seems the right prediction for us as a modestly low key party, but a very promising one, at this stage.

I asked this already on another thread but will SP/ULA candidates consider government with Labour/SF should the situation arise?

I certainly think it is safe to say the WP would-but we will be 4 at best so whilst i do not talk down our future ambitions, in any next govt, we would be small in comparison to ULA and Sf and Labour. We are realists as well as long term strategists-we will get what reforms we can from present system. Its why the wp supported a govt for a time in the 80s-without being in it-when we believe it is for the good of the people, I believe we do support, or will enter a govt.

Are you counting your chickens and saying the Worker's Party will have 4TDs after the next election? seriously?

I believe we can. 2 is most likely, and there is a small possibility of 4.
