John P. Martin, OECD Director of Employment, Labour & Social Affairs and SIPTU's Marie Sherlock will speak on Jobs for the Future. John Martin, for instance, wrote a very interesting article on job activation for the Irish Times recently: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opinion/2010/1101/1224282401702.html

Esteemed economist, Professor Karl Whelan of UCD, will make a presentation on the banks, the budget and the bond market while Dr. Michael L. Collins of Trinity will discuss the paper he recently presented in Kenmare on closing tax breaks for the wealthy.

Registration, tea & coffee will be from 10am and the event will kick off at 10.30am sharp.

The forum will take place in Chartered Accountants House on Pearse St., across from Pearse St. train station: http://www.charteredaccountantshouse.ie/Location1/Location/

John Martin's contribution will most likely amount to: plunge unemployed people into poverty by removing social welfare and this will force them to work for pennies; while at the same time abollish minimum wage restrictions.

I can't see his speech being anything other than that

I'm fed up listening to economists. I think I could care less about what Karl Whelan has to say.

They have to appear to be so central and get a name or two to speak otherwise they'll be castigated as lefty Pol Pot worshipers.

You could nearly be guarantee that if Labour truly stood to the left of the "consensus" they'd hardly get half the interviews they get in the media at present.

It's odd though that they do still get slagged for being champaign socialists - by right wingers!

Their pre-budget proposal will probably mirror Fine Gael's some optics and creative accounting aside.
