John Gormley addressing the GP conference this evening claimed that in the last month there was an attempt by some councillors to assist a developer in re-zoning a swathe of land for a supermarket beside a motorway in South county Dublin.

“In this the South Dublin case, years of planning to create a new town centre in South Dublin, and €350 million of public and private investment into a new Luas line would have been undermined because one developer had other ideas and land elsewhere,” he said.

Has this already been reported? Is it just Gormley playing to the crowd and trying to distance himself from his FF partners?

Were the greens in 2007 playing goodie two-shoes on purpose to gain votes off of a certain niche voting sector, have they decieved us or is it possible that FF have had an affect on them in the meantime? They are nothing but a joke at this stage, they have barely defended any of their principles or election positions. A good whipping boy, and irrelevant coalition partner for the sneering gombeens in FF. Then again the man who brought them into the coalition claimed to be a socialist, so maybe its just a big cartoon purporting to be Irish politics.

Pardon the pun, but Gormless & co should look forward to a good incinerating come GE time. Also likely to go the way of the PD's.

Interesting. RTE News tonight mentioned this, but said he was very vague about the detail. He was attacking FG Councillors planning interventions but apparently not Fianna Fail's
