I posted about a missing satellite last week (nobody seemed to care )
http://www.politicalworld.org/showthread.php?t=5195&highlight=satellite
and this week it seems to be a stray, unidentified flying object that might have been a Tomahawk....

How long before one of these things lands in the wrong place ?
I suppose we should be glad it wasn't armed - if it wasn't armed.....

Weird one this- I saw a US report on it which quoted 'sources' in the military saying that it was nothing to do with them and that they were investigating a large contrail reported off the west coast.
Seems a bizarre story and I don't get it- if some private organisation or individuals launched something big enough to leave a large contrail the US radar systems would have picked it up immediately never mind satellite observation.
I reckon the US navy or army have test fired something which they had to abort out over the sea and they are just bullshitting to the press because they don't want to admit to a misfire or failed test?

The reports I saw didn't name a Tomahawk/cruise .. just civilian reports of a missile and a large contrail...
Tomahawk Cruise ? Is that deliberate ?

uh, North Korea?? They had the range to hit Canada a year or two ago, add another 1000km and yer in LA??
Alternatively, my best guess would be aliens or the Russians....
Gulp!

L. Ron Hubbard's aliens, of course. The vindication of Scientology.
Tom straddling the Tomahawk as it soars skywards.

Could be testing laser targetting ... the US has been in a bit of funk since the Chinese destroyed an old satellite in orbit a couple of years back. Could have sent a decoy off to see whether they could target it within the atmosphere. Could be all sorts or Lt Kurtz tripped and fell on a missile firing system or something. Who knows? The funny bit is the US military going all innocent and making enquiries about it. I doubt anything moves in US airspace without an instant alarm going off.

Jim Cash, Brig. General USAF (Ret) speaks about the missile launch. (http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1260370/pg1)
" - I am referring to the "missile shot" taken of California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.
First, in hope of adding some credibility to my assessment of what really happened just off the coast of Los Angeles let me convey a bit of my background which can be checked easily by going to Google and typing in my name. An Air Force biography will appear.
During the late eighties I was assigned to NORAD, as a Command Director initially and later as the assistant Director of Operations for NORAD. . . . .
I understand the difference in an aircraft contrail and a missile launch contrail.
In my opinion there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star General in minutes, and passed to the President immediately. . . . .
Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORAD's muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the President himself. . . . .
This is no longer a threat to only our military thousands of miles from the homeland. This is a show of force sending a signal that downtown USA is now capablE of being hit by an undetected submarine and at any time. . . . .

It would be a hell of a coup if a Chinese sub or Russian sub was able to fire off a missile so close to the US coast like that on a 'stealth' propaganda effort. Hugely dangerous as well as Norad bells and whistles would have lit up like a christmas tree.
I think it was a US sub that did something embarrassing or else was a training exercise on stealth technology and the winning sub doing a kind of victory roll ...
It would explain why the Americans are being coy about it all.
The Russians have been updating and spending a lot of money to completely refit and renew their fleet but they simply wouldn't take the chance of panic at Norad I suspect.

We (US) have missile ranges for test firing of missiles. We also have a procedure for notifying airmen and mariners (Notice to all Airmen/Mariners) (NOTAMs) about all tests involving possible harm to them. We don't just launch missiles into busy maritime waters (or air space) without having issued a notice.

Reported in the Wall Street Journal’s REVIEW & OUTLOOK on “Why China Hates NMD” (http://www.taiwandc.org/wsj-2000-13.htm) (America’s Nuclear Missile Shield)
“ - If Chinese leaders [ .. ] decide to use force to take over [Taiwan] their "renegade province" under any scenario they will need to establish air and sea superiority. That is impossible if American aircraft carriers take up positions in the Taiwan Strait. And so neutralizing America's will to fight with nuclear threats is a top priority.
China has given the U.S. a taste of such threats. In 1995 Chinese General Xiong Guangkai told an American envoy, "In the end, you care more about Los Angeles than you do about Taipei." This year [2000] an official newspaper, the Liberation Army Daily, warned that a defense of Taiwan could lead to missile attacks on the U.S. - ”
In 2010 there were two Chinese Cyber attacks on US assets (http://redtape.msnbc.com/2010/11/china-web-hijacking-shows-net-at-risk.html); one in March, and again in April when communications between the US Senate, the White House, NASA, The US Army and other agencies were sidetracked to China and kept for twenty minutes.
In October 2006 a Chinese submarine “stalked” a U.S. aircraft carrier (http://factsanddetails.com/china.php?itemid=293&catid=8&subcatid=51) and approached within firing range without being detected. In January 2008, a Chinese submarine followed the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk in the Taiwan Strait but was detected and monitored with antisubmarine aircraft. Analysts say that in the future China could be able to approach an aircraft carrier and possibly sink it with a missile.
US and South Korea are scheduled to do naval exercises in the Yellow Sea in December; China has warned the US that the Yellow Sea is their territorial waters.
China, as of 2010, has nuclear submarines proven capable of launching nuclear tipped missiles.
The single nozzle contrail over the Pacific going north and parallel to the coast of California was just outside American territorial waters, which extend to 12 miles. China claims all waters within 200 miles as being within their sphere of influence.
My best guess is that the appearance of the contrail of questionable origin was response by China to our activities in their "sphere of influence."
