Dan Boyle's successor has totally jumped ship now.

Obviously decided not to be "Green Independent" and has obviously decided not to get involved in the new green party:-

CORK-BASED former Green Party Councillor Chris O’Leary, currently an Independent, will announce today that he has joined Sinn Féin and will be available to run for the Dáil if selected in the next general election, informed sources said.

Mr O’Leary originally joined the Green Party in the early 1990s and was co-opted to Cork City Council in 2002 to replace Dan Boyle, who was elected to the Dáil for the Greens that year.

His Brother I believe (Don O'Leary) was elected as a SF Cllr in the Cork North West Constituency of the City in the Locals in 1999, who seemed to last for a very short period as a Cllr before being replaced by current Cllr Jonathan O'Brien who was co-opted in his place

I'm surprised (and a bit disappointed). I would have thought he might go with PBP, never thought he would join Shinners. I can see where their social agenda would appeal to him, but its not an ecological (encompassing social) agenda.

Nevertheless, I wish him well, and I hope he is selected to contest in Dan Boyle's constituency.

I seem to recall he being considered a bit of a family "black sheep"/at the least people being surprised originally he having elected to join the Greens when the family (and particularly his Bro as a SF Cllr) might have had more of a leaning in the latter direction

I assume the shinners helped him out when the knackers in Mahon burned his house. Haven't heard anything bad happening since.
