Two British Neo Nazis have been jailed for race hate posting. Their case wasn't helped by ownership of weapons and connections with people convicted of violence.

Their offence seems to have been more serious than the benighted "Jihad Jane" group based in Ireland, who seem to have been in probability fantasists.

These cases should press home the point that violent posts that incite violence are not legal on internet forums and that the defence of having only been talking hot air may not be a good one.

Two white supremacists who posted racist internet messages calling for Jews to be destroyed have been jailed.
Michael Heaton, 42, of Leigh, Greater Manchester, and Trevor Hannington, 58, from Hirwaun, described Jews as "scum" and encouraged people to kill them.
The self-proclaimed neo-Nazis were both cleared of soliciting murder. Heaton was convicted of stirring up racial hatred - a charge Hannington admitted.
Heaton was jailed for 30 months and Hannington for two years.
'Race war'
Justice Irwin told Heaton his words were of the most "insulting and extreme nature" marked by "violent racism" and said only a significant jail term was acceptable.

Thats not quite true. AFAIK, its not illegal to incite violence per se. For example, if the violence is regarding a boxing match, martial arts, acts of war etc. What was illegal in the OPs case was the racial element.

Check out the Constitution and the Non Violent Offences Against the Person Act.

Check out the Constitution and the Non Violent Offences Against the Person Act.Cheers for that lead. I presume you mean this bit

A person who, without lawful excuse, makes to another a threat, by any means intending the other to believe it will be carried out, to kill or cause serious harm to that other or a third person shall be guilty of an offencehttp://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1997/en/act/pub/0026/sec0005.html#sec5
I would have thought a forum post advocating violence against some general group, would not be a breach of this law, as the threat is not made "to another" but instead to third parties, ie the readers of the forum.

A fairly technical point, I know, but the law is nearly all technicalities anyway.
