Irish Independent reports on Batt O'Keefe's daughter Weddings

Seemingly he was moved at the wedding of his daughter Hilda O'Keefe to Damian Smyth. Tell me a father who is not "moved" walking their daughter up the aisle.

No offense to Hilda, her groom and their wedding, but why is this news? What next from the Irish Independent. Could we expect up to the minute reports on Noel Dempsey's Son's communion, Mary Hanifin's mother's 70th, Frank Fahey's fathers cow winning Best Aberdeen Angus breed at the Galway show or Mary Coughlan's daughters sportsday....

Only in Ireland could a National Newspaper make news of no news.

Such a pity he wasn't touched by the man who had to steal milk for his family because of the actions Batt's party in government have taken to deprive the poor and protect the elite.

Independent had run out of news which placed this news in the prominence. Their avoidance of important issues such as Nama, Govt inept handling of the economic crisis which they sleepwalked throughout it. They aren't able to handle a constructive debate such as the By elections etc.

What say it ALL for me was when i saw an article written by Ceclia Larkin. She's a no journalist at all just a beautician. Hence the sub standard of journalistic writings on the Indo, Sindo have gone down a lot in my eyes or other people's eyes.

It's a NON- story really which isn't needed for a rational discussion. That article along with photo degraded the Indo's to a ' JUNK' status (more like a tabloid paper).

I never buy this paper at all only a casual read when it's handed out SO freely in hotels, B&B's etc in order to maintain (artificially propping up) their share of the media market.

The Indo is a tabloisesque rag. They will stick any dumbed-down rubbish in there to maintain their campaign to infantalise their readership. When people start making excuses for reading some crap that they have paid for, you know that the paper is a rag "Oh, I only buy the Sindo to read Shane Ross and Gene Kerrigan" "I only buy the Star for the Sport" and so on.
