There's a lot of discussion about the decline of the Press and displacement by "social media" but we still rely on the daily Press for reports and analysis - if less so on opinion.

Do you have a favourite political journalist ?

Brian Feeney in The Irish News is always a good read.

I've refused to buy it now for months though. Call me tight but 70p for a 5 minute read is poor value for money.

Newspapers are so last century.

Gavin Sheridan is miles ahead of the whole lot of 'em put together.

Gene Kerrigan on the back of the Sindo. He's stuck to his guns relentlessly year after year and that wasn't so easy during the Celtic Badger era. For certain he is one of the people that Ahern was thinking about when he came out with his notorious 'suicide' remark.

Gavin Sheridan has his own special tribute thread here somewhere.

This is about the poor old print journalists.

I would think of Kathleen Barrington and Elaine Byrne as decent.

I like Jamie Smyth, Social Affairs reporter in the Irish Times (not strictly political I know)

Can't nominate him - he's stalking Cactus.
She - the net ninja - called him a 'wuss'.
I deemed that unfair.
So I gave FOT the coordinates of her Mullingar basement.

And now it's all gone awol. Call the cops.
