View Full Version : Should BoI building on college green be given to the state?
This wonderful historic building would be a wonderful addition for the state, either as a museum, government, local government or as part of a university.
If BoI cant pay the interest on the 3.5 billion maybe they could start with properties.

We could take possession of it ASAP and run guided tours for tourists, charge them 2 quid a pop, at least that way we could make some income from it.
My preferred solution is that citizen take control of the building and declare a new republic and use that as our parliament.
There is something to be said for a new Dail starting in a new location.
Why not in Grattan's Parliament?
We are surely heading for a re-organisation of the system of government in the medium term. We need to renew the constitution and symbolically return credibility to the organs of state. A bit of tampering about and sacking a few senators is not going to cut it.
The symbolism of it being in one of the banks might be helpful to drawing a line under the pain of the past. Much as sitting in Lord Leinsters house was in the past.

The Building on College Green can be a Museum for Modern Art
The New Dail will sit in the New Courts for Criminal Justice
There will be plenty of capital sentences to be processed and hanging will take place in the Phoenix Park
The Greens will be impressed by the low carbon footprint of the new regime

It can be a museum for future generations to see how brutal the oppression of the Fractional Reserve Banking system was on the people at the time.

Great idea, who is responsible for selling off such a building to a bank?
I call Bank of Ireland the whistlers, the can whistle for their money.
