This September, Wales will host the largest gathering of international leaders ever to take place in Britain as the UK hosts the NATO summit. President Obama, Chancellor Merkel, and President Hollande are expected to attend along with leaders and senior ministers from around 60 other countries.

The summit comes as NATO draws down from its longest ever mission in Afghanistan and against a backdrop of instability in Ukraine. It is an opportunity to ensure that NATO continues to be at the forefront of building stability in an unpredictable world.

Only a short ferry trip lads and lassies.

How NATO plans a "rotating" standing East European army (http://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2014/09/01/brit-s01.html), in defiance of NATO-Russia founding articles.

If "Red Block" isn't a bunch of provocateurs, then they've lost sight of their mission.

I like Simon Jenkins' comparison to the Field of the Cloth of Gold. Another very extravagant display of pointless wealth and power. They must find a war soon.

Rasmussen has announced a "spearhead" rapid deployment force with a base "in the East" ready to deploy "anywhere in the world at any time" - then goes on about "protecting and defending NATO countries" - why the "anywhere in the world " mission then ?

Really announcing the end of having regard to the UN.

Enhance cyber defence announced. "We declare that cyber defence is part of NATO's collective defence"

NATO's mission to "bring stability to the world" - cites Bosnia, Libya and Afghanistan..........

"Defence capacity development to be built to assist "partner nations" (like Ireland).

Will extend this initiative to Georgia Moldova and Jordan and in future to Libya and Iraq.

There will be a substantive package of measures for Georgia, Montengro to be invited to join by 2015.,

Finally - countries who aspire to join "Open door policy is a succes for NATO - Europe at peace.

No third country has a veto over this"
