A link from Paddy Healys Blog to a leaflet produced by members of the INTO looking for a No vote to the Croke Park agreement.

An excellent leaflet by those teachers. I have only one criticism of it - the 'Better Fairer Way' was the foundation on which the Croke Park 'deal' was constructed, and it is still a concession too far to a greedy government bent on indemnifying the casino-capitalist gambling debts of the local (and global) rich class with our money, present and future. The positives in the leaflet far outweigh this flaw, and the call/reminder to pursue defensive action after the No vote is wise and timely.

Remember too that this leaflet's publication has more of a mandate from rank-and-file INTO members than the union leaderships had from their own memberships for 'negotiating' the Croke Park 'deal'.
A strike is surely not far off
THE General Secretary of the TUI (Teachers' Union of Ireland) has warned that teachers and lecturers will withdraw goodwill from work activities because of current demands.
He said the TUI will vote against Croke Park II proposals when the Public Services Committee of Congress convenes on April 17 to finalise its collective decision on the deal.

Irish teachers have it cushy with months of vacation for the entire summer, massive breaks at Christmas and Easter, short working days, extraordinarily generous salaries, job security, and a solid state pension. New teachers have a big cut in pay but their colleagues have no bother with a two-tier system as long as #1 is OK.

We're may yet learn that if we treat people like ***** they won't give us their all. The 8% drop in applications for teaching places is a hint that despite the mindless baying of the PS bashers, teaching isn't an attractive career option any more.

Jim Larkin invoked today. The Teachers and Gardaí are getting radical.
What's everyone else's excuse?
