Not since the Godfather will there be so many traitors on screen. This years Labour conference is to be broadcast live o youtube (so you can swear in the safety of your living room without the neighbours hearing.). The sellout conference (or should that be a conference of sellouts??) is taking place in Killarney this weekend . Some of the motions being debated

http://www.thejournal.ie/labour-party-conference-motions-agenda-1196282-Nov2013/

Motion 13 calls for Labour to ensure “equality to all unemployed people, regardless of age or disability in accessing services” and is interesting in the context of the Budget measure to reduce benefit paid to unemployed people under 25.

They agreed to cut the dole for under 25's and jobs bridge

Motion 25 calls on Labour to “examine the possibility” that all persons receiving active treatment for cancer get a medical card.

Why should this be debated? It should just be given

Motion 36 calls for the Public Expenditure and Reform Minister Brendan Howlin to repeal the FEMPI legislation, that imposes mandatory pay cuts on areas of the public sector that do not comply with the Haddington Road Agreement, before he leaves office.

The motion notes that the legislation will continue “indefinitely” unless he does repeal it, potentially handing “draconian powers to some future right wing minister”.

Labour forgetting how ironic this is

Motion 41 calls on Labour Party ministers to be “demonstrably and persistently more assertive” in pursuing Labour policies and values in government and calls for austerity measures affecting the old, poor and vulnerable to be reversed.

LOLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

@Cathal_McCann: Will be opposing adoption of Standing Orders report No1 due to slashing of speaking time from 3mins to 1 min for proposers of motions #LP13
And so it begins!

It's sickening to read an article in IT online re interview with gift of gab gimme more. Reading the lines which jumped out was that Gimme more was/is deluded re surival of Labour party with his leadership in question and their expectations of votes. So out of touch with the public at large.

He doesn't get it re public anger of CUTS CUTS CUTS worse of all USC and PRSI percentage rise from 1st Jan 2014. Another form of stealth taxes re green taxes as the public can't take any more of this nonsense.

It's a high time for a new party to come out of their shells & establish it as Labour along with FG will take a hit in the polls with new party included although polls aren't the accurate reflection of what happens on the day of elections.

Are they afraid of criticism?

Jack O Connor thinks a coalition with the right may be necessary. Labour sleeps with the enemy, not for the first time eh?
