A chara,

If you have already booked your place for the 2013 Countess Markeivicz School in Liberty Hall this Saturday at 10am you may ignore this message.

This year to mark the centenary of the 1913 Lockout the school will discuss issues surrounding women and poverty. A keynote address will be given by Dr. Pauline Conroy. An author and researcher whose areas of expertise include equality and social inclusion, she will provide an insight into life in 1913 and the role of Countess Markievicz in the soup kitchens of the Lockout. Below is a link to interviews with guest speakers Dr. Pauline Conroy and Oliver Williams on the Pat Kenny programme Wednesday, 8May:

Are women still experiencing poverty in Ireland in 2013? Mary Murphy (NUIM) and a panel of speakers will explore this issue. Living conditions 100 years on from 1913 will be discussed with a panel of speakers including community activist Rita Fagan. Graham Usher, spokesperson for Priory Hall residents, will talk about “Tenements of the Boom” This is a link to interviews by Eoin Drinan of Near Fm 90.3
