Reading that harrowing story of a girl who was raped and then had to submit to a 'marriage' with the rapist, and her subsequent suicide, has left me with no place to put my rage.
I searched for an Irish women's organisation that might protest but to no avail. Does anybody know of a such an organisation or of any body that might protest to the Moroccan government, organise a boycott of their products and engage in other such actions?

Have you a link for those of us not familiar with the matter?

Sorry, I should have added links.
Here's the first one I grabbed but all the news media have been carrying it.

I would suggest writing directly to the Morrocan Ambassador, expressing your personal views.

The abduction and forced marriage of women was commonplace in Ireland in earlier times, particularly of women who would have an inheritance.

The basis of the code, where it exists, is I guess that the woman's "honour" and marriageability has gone and that marriage can rectify that, and materially safeguard her future.

Women's right to earn her own livelihood, to choose a partner, and not to be beaten or raped by that partner, is on ongoing battle across the world, not excepting the west.

Perhaps one approach would be to find a Morrocan's women's organisation that would like support from outside their country. From the Sky report, it seems that there is a campaign in Morrocco. I guess they would have views on what kind of support would and would not help.

This code is not only applied in Morrocco.

Sorry again, I was a bit rushed earlier. I must stop letting work interfere with my PW time.

I have followed up on that. It's strange, and sad, that there is no longer a women's organisation or movement in Ireland concerned with these issues.
