Noel Harrington: Question 348:

To ask the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork is still waiting for
their hip replacement operation, since August 2010; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [40632/11]

Given the present state of the nation is this kind of question justified.

I don't expect any of you will say 'that's the way it is' - please; can anybody actually point out a better way of dealing with our political system rather than occupying our public representatives with this sort of trivia?

I know that it is what TDs do, but why? Is there no alternative?

There should certainly be a more cost effective way.

Do TD's have an official job description or would that be much too constrictive ?

It's also worth pointing to a thread here (started by your good self :) ) on the cost of parliamentary questions as a reminder:-

This is because we have too many TDs. Something like this should be a local, not a national issue.
